Patio House
Holiday houseLocated in Sicily, in the province of Siracusa, this patio house occupies the entire building area of the site, a narrow tongue of land projecting into the sea. The project involves a longitudinally arranged structure defining two separate zones, an introverted oasis containing the bedrooms and an extroverted area, open out to the sea, where the living area is placed. A series of walls defines the interior and exterior spaces, creating on the perimeter five independent rooms, each opening on an interior patio. On the other side of the wall, an internal alley provides independent access to the rooms and creates a spatial connection between the sleeping and the living areas. The sequence of spaces, from the private to the public zones, is marked by the walls opening on the living area outside overlooking the sea. That space, in antithesis to the bedroom area, is defined just by a concrete podium which balances the slope of the terrain and allows the structure to stand high above the sea.
