Fuori salone, exhibition
The hallway is a link point between one realm and another, a space where the activity of transi-ting happens.
The discovery of an hidden metal beam, during a renovation of an apartment, forced us to revise the space and geometry of an hallway, investigating on its possibilities. An unpredictable event, a mistake, led us to reflect on the role of this space in contemporary living, where the logic of the square meter absorbs all those non-essential spaces.
Hanging from the ceiling, Disimpegno becomes a tent, an atrium, a treshold, a space with its own characteristics and uniqueness. It brings on stage the pure space deprived of its mere function, making it no longer a place of transition. The slender metal structure together with the woven fabric threads, deny the typical dividing function of a hall, thus generating spatial relationships in every context.
The visitor is asked to live the space questioning on the possibilities of what an hall can be revealing it’s hidden potential.
